Through My Eyes...

Before you ask, yes, that is Carmine D’Amico playing guitar with the Royal Teens in this clip. He was just a kid, yet he performed such great guitar solo’s! The shot of the audience is hysterical! Carmine was nine years old when he joined the Royal Teens and that career was cut short due to his mother refusing to let him go on tour to Europe with the Royal Teens. Regardless of their promises of having a tutor for him and that they would take good care of him or regardless how much money they offered, she kept firm and said “NO” to all of their requests. Here’s some trivia for you: Carmine was replaced with the one and only Alice Cooper as guitarist. In this particular video Carmine is around 12-13 years old. Bob Gaudio is on piano, Tommy Austin on Drums. No bass player. Joey Francovilla later became the vocalist, with Frank Coppola tenor sax and Leo Rogers as Manager. Back in the day, when you want out to the local soda shop you could hear your favorite 45 single’s on a jukebox similar to this one:

You might of drove up with your sweetheart in an automobile similar to one of these:

If you were young, maybe you wore one of these hair styles:

You might of went to your local drive in to see the latest move:

Or maybe you went to your local soda shop to share your favorite drink:

Maybe you were lucky enough to get chosen to appear on the American Bandstand show:

When a young lady was picked up for a date, she might of wore this:

If you stayed home, and your home work was done, mom and dad would let you listen to your collection of 45’s on a record player (33’s rpm albums didn’t come out until later):

You would talk on the phone while wearing your favorite dungarees, but you had to be careful of what you said because more then likely you had a party line, private lines were very rare. It was difficult to tell if someone was listening to your conversation!

Shorts of that time, were capri’s or if you were a starlet you might were the shorter versions. But NEVER did you show your belly button!

And last but not least, the swimwear!
